The all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer is now officially confirmed by General Motors South Africa. The
burly SUV is scheduled for local launch
before the end of 2012, but we aren’t sure exactly
when that is. Its main sales target
will be the ever-shining Toyota Fortuner.
“This great
product,” commented Malcolm Gauld,
Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for GM South Africa, “will further
strengthen our Chevrolet product
portfolio offering which has rapidly
expanded over the past two years. The response from customers has been
very favourable with our Chevrolet sales volumes growing by over 50% in
2011 versus 2010.”
The 7-seat SUV should
feature all-wheel-drive (AWD)
technology, judging from those off-road tyres fitted to the concept. While powertrain details have not been
released, it’s suspected that a strong turbo diesel pushing over 450Nm of torque and mated to an automatic gearbox, will head the
lineup.
