RENAULT COULD CHALLENGE 5 SERIES, A7

It appears Renault could be getting back into the swing of premium things. According to a report emanating from France, Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn has confirmed he is looking to build a large premium vehicle, possibly in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. The two already have a working relationship within the small car segment.

Back in the mid-2000s, Renault launched the Vel Satis sedan/ big hatch, an abomination in design, but pleasant in ride. Unfortunately the market only saw the design and didn’t bother to get inside. Now Ghosn is hoping to develop something that can be both attractive and high quality enough to attract buyers and potential buyers of the three German premium brands.

The question however, remains; will the market go for a Renault-badged C-Class/ A4/ S60 type of car? Or will Renault create/ resurrect an old in-house brand and do a Lexus? Let’s wait and see what happens.
