REAL CATERHAM AEROSEVEN COMING IN 2014

Caterham Cars has made their dream come true by showing us the new AeroSeven Concept car. The British brand looks to be going after the same market as the likes of Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow and Caparo T1. These are essentially track cars that can also be legally driven on the road.

NISSAN GT-R NISMO SPIED AT NURBURGRING

When Nissan first launched the current-generation GT-R back in 2007 (2009 in Mzansi), the world stood still. It’s kind of been standing still ever since with each improvement of this stunning performer. Well it’s not over. There is a new version coming next year called the GT-R Nismo. These are the spy pictures as you see them, taken at the Nurburgring.

BMW i8 PRICED FOR AMERICA

While this is not be indicative of anything as far as Mzansi is concerned, it may be worth noting that BMW has priced its new i8 super hybrid in the United States. Basic trim is going to cost US$135 700, which is about R1.4 million over here. However, should we believe that this starting price is possible here too, then we can certainly dream of a likely final launch price.

PEUGEOT ADDS NEW ENTRY-LEVEL 208

Peugeot South Africa has extended its highly successful 208 compact hatchback line-up with the addition of the affordable, three-door Access 1.0 model. The newcomer brings the 208 ownership experience within reach of a wider audience, while still offering buyers an overall exceptional motoring package.

2014 MERCEDES-BENZ S 500, S 400, S 300 HYBRIDS DETAILED

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which officially lands in Mzansi within weeks (although we’ve seen a few on the roads already), is bringing some interesting new powertrains. One of these is the new S 500 Hybrid range.

FORD EVOS CONCEPT HEADING FOR JOZI

Ford first unveiled the Evos Concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show. Soon South Africans who attend the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) at NASREC next month will also be able to view it live. Evos may not be built, we don’t know yet. But some of its design elements and technologies will definitely be seen in upcoming Ford products.

NEW 2014 BMW M3 SEDAN SPIED

These spy pictures of the upcoming 2014 model year BMW M3 sedan have cropped up. The car has been undergoing some testing in preparation for its global public reveal, either at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show or the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Sales will begin next year.

JAGUAR C-X17 SUV CONCEPT DETAILED

Over the years there’ve been so many rumours of a Jaguar SUV that the thing has almost taken on a Loch Ness monster-like reputation! But for the first time, Jaguar has kind of acknowledged it’s working on something by showing off this C-X17 Concept SUV at the 2013 Frankfurt International Motor Show.

DATSUN GO+ VALUE MPV REVEALED, COMING TO MZANSI

Datsun has unveiled its second 21^st Century product in the GO+, which of course is based on the GO hatch that was revealed a few months ago. Both GO and GO+ will be available for sale in Mzansi in 2014. The GO+ is essentially a value MPV for mid-sized to large families who enjoy travelling together. It’s only marginally smaller than a Livina, but is also expected to cost less.

RUNDLE AND MOHR JOIN DAKAR 2014 FRAY

Thomas Rundle and Juan Mohr will compete privately in the 2014 Dakar Rally in South America in January in the same Toyota Hilux in which Duncan Vos and Rob Howie finished 10th in the 2012 Dakar Rally and which took the Toyota Motorsport pair to victory in the 2012 national off road championship.

SUZUKI iV-4 CONCEPT REVEALED AT FRANKFURT. COMING IN 2015

It hardly ever happens that a motor manufacturer introduces a concept car at a motor show, like Suzuki did the iV-4 SUV Concept, then proceeds to tell the world when it will come into production. But that’s exactly what the Japanese brand has done. So, now we know the iV-4 production version goes on sale in Europe in 2015.

KELVIN VAN DER LINDE STILL IN LINE FOR SCIROCCO R-CUP CROWN

Teenage South African racing driver Kelvin van der Linde, one of the two youngest drivers in the competition, will go to the final round of the international VW Scirocco R-Cup in Hockenheim in Germany on October 19 in first places after the two-race penultimate round was completed in Oschersleben in Germany on Sunday.
