SEBASTIAN VETTEL MAINTAINS CASTROL DRIVER LEAD RANKING


In a month when motorsport saw more than it’s fair share of controversy, one thing that remains unquestioned is F1 driver Sebastian Vettel’s dominance of the Castrol Driver Rankings. The Red Bull man started pole in both Grand Prix in the month and recorded two points finishes, maintaining his place at the top of the Castrol Driver Rankings for the fourth consecutive month.

FORD RANGER SUPER CAB IS NOW AUTOMATIC


Ford has further expanded its Ford Ranger line-up with the introduction of an automatic transmission to the 3.0 Super Cab XLT 4x2. The 3.0-litre turbo diesel model produces 115kW at 3 200rpm and has a torque peak of 380Nm at 1 800rpm.

CHEVROLET SALES ON THE UP


Chevrolet delivered a total of 139 916 vehicles in July, a 12 percent gain year over year. Due to sustained demand across the Chevrolet line up, calendar-year-to-date sales are up 28 percent compared to 2009.

During July 2010 a total of 29 203 new passenger cars were sold in South Africa. Total new passenger car sales in July increased by nine percent when compared to June 2010, and by 32.4 percent when compared to July 2009, bringing the year-to-date July market in 2010 to a level 28.6 percent above the same period for 2009.

GEELY COMPLETES VOLVO TAKE-OVER


Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, one of the fastest-growing car manufacturers in China, today announced it has completed the acquisition of 100 per cent of Volvo Car Corporation ("Volvo Cars") from Ford Motor Company. 

Geely also announced that Stefan Jacoby, the Chief Executive of Volkswagen Group of America, would become President and Chief Executive Officer of Volvo Cars.

CITROEN CELEBRATES GOOD RALLY OUT


The Citroën Total World Rally Team crews improved their positions on the second day of Rally Finland. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia in their first race for the works team, finished in a magnificent second place a few seconds in front of Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena.
