BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT FACELIFT: VIDEO

Bentley’s Continental GT has benefited from a mild facelift that refreshes its exterior looks and interior appointments. First delivered to market in 2003, the two-door GT became a symbol of the times; good times, excess, riche nouveau etc etc. Moneyed folk with no serious driving ambitions snapped them up with ease and Bentley returned to “cool”.

TURBO-POWERED ALL-NEW OPEL ASTRA ALMOST READY FOR MZANSI

Exciting product news from General Motors South Africa is that the all new Opel Astra is set for an earlier than expected arrival in South Africa. Initially scheduled for launch in the early part of 2011, the new Astra is now expected at local dealers within the coming weeks.

A clean sheet design from Opel engineers the new Astra has a sporty, coupé-like, profile with full five-door functionality and seating for five adults. The all new design incorporates a host of safety features, some a first in class for this ‘C’ segment competitor. The stylish interior is complemented by up-to-the-minute interior treatments with exceptional ergonomics and occupant comfort.

BMW KILLS M6

BMW M GmbH has announced the end of production of the BMW M6 Coupé and the BMW M6 Convertible. The two high performance models provide the most exclusive opportunity to experience on normal roads the hallmark athleticism of M vehicles combined with drive and chassis technology inspired by the world of motor racing. In total 14 152 examples of these high-performance sports cars were built: 9 087 units of the Coupé, which launched in 2005; and 5 065 Convertible models, presented the following year.

TORQUEY NEW DIESEL FOR CITROEN C3

Citroën South Africa, has had a busy year launching a bevy of new models and now new additions to the line-up are being introduced that will complete the range.

The C3 range now has a serious contender in the diesel engine segment. Initially a small number of 1.4-litre diesel engine models were imported to test the market.

CHEVROLET READIES ALL-NEW AVEO FOR PARIS 2010

There is no shortage of world firsts for Chevrolet at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show, and joining the Orlando MPV and Cruze hatchback show car will be the eagerly awaited Chevrolet Aveo 5-door, which like the Orlando makes its world production debut.
The Aveo RS show car was displayed at the Detroit and Geneva motor shows earlier in 2010, and with the final production-ready model, Chevrolet has a car that looks every bit as good as the earlier concept.

NEW ISUZU FX TRUCK RANGE COMPLETES SERIES

At the time of launch in March 2010 Isuzu Truck South Africa presented 13 all-new F-Series models. The new Isuzu FX models were announced as the F-Series range ‘Big Brother’ and arriving later in 2010. They are now here – five new Isuzu FX models, positioned as the heavy-duty end of the F-Series range. The entire Isuzu F-Series model line-up now consists of more than 18 models with gross vehicle masses (GVM) from 10000kg to 28000kg, and gross combination masses (GCM) from 16000kg

PRICED: 250KW BMW Z4, 600NM DIESEL X5 AND X6

Prices for several BMW models have been announced. The new Z4 sDrive35is with a double-clutch transmission comes in at R770 500 excluding the new C02 tax of R8 464.50. Powered by the same 3.0-litre single turbo engine found in the new 535i, the Z4 sDrive35is puts out a useful 250kW at 5900rpm and 450Nm at 1500rpm.

"GREEN" AUDI HELPS PLANT 1450 TREES

Audi SA is celebrating Arbor Month through the planting of 1450 trees in Olievenhoutbosch and Atteridgeville. Audi SA’s green campaign began in 2009 and will continue to 2012, resulting in over 25 000 residents of settlements in Gauteng and other provinces participating in FTFA’s (Food & Trees for Africa) Trees for Homes programme.

CITROEN SCORES WITH THE LADIES

Citroën, which made its official return to South Africa at the beginning of the year as a fully-owned subsidiary of France is already making an impression on local motorists and motoring journalists with its stylish and practical range of cars.

The latest accolades to come the way of the innovative French manufacturer were in the annual Women on Wheels (WOW) Car of the Year competition. The Citroën C3 won the keenly contested Best Hatchback award and the recently launched DS3 was voted Best Sports Car.

SALES UP AT RENAULT SA

Renault South Africa has posted a record performance for the second consecutive month firmly positioning themselves as one of South Africa’s top 10 selling passenger car (PC) brands. This in the face of industrial strike action at Alliance partner Nissan South Africa’s Rosslyn plant which saw production output of the popular Renault Sandero reduced by over 36%.

CHEVROLET CRUZE CUTS BUTT

The story of the Chevrolet Cruze goes from strength to strength with the latest chapter heralding the launch of a new 5-door hatchback model, further evidence of Chevrolet's commitment to bring value for money in every segment in which it competes.
A show car version of Chevrolet's compact contender will be seen for the first time at the Paris Motor Show, on September 30. It will be one of four world Chevrolet premieres at the show.

V8 SEDANS RETURNING TO ROARING KHAYALAMI

The International Superstars Series returns to Khayalami on November 28 courtesy of Blue IQ and the Gauteng Provincial Government.  Following last year’s successful debut round outside of Europe, the 500 bhp V8 saloon car championship makes its second appearance at South Africa’s premier circuit for the seventh and final round of the 2010 series.
