car. It’s called the Jaguar XJR and
harks back to the days of the old XJR
that really started the super executive
saloon movement. The new XJR will make its public debut at the Motor Expo in
London’s Canary Wharf next week where lucky Londoners can take a closer look at it.

MERCEDES-BENZ SLS AMG COUPE ELECTRIC DRIVE BREAKS NURBURGRING RECORD

Mercedes-Benz
aims to be one of the first, if not the first, premium carmakers to introduce
full electric cars on the roads. They have been running an electric B-Class for years and are now testing
this SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive.
Testing seems to be going stunningly as the car has just *quietly* set a new record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
JAGUAR F-TYPE TO APPEAR AT TOP GEAR FESTIVAL IN DURBAN

Jaguar will introduce the new F-Type to the South African public through the 2013 Top Gear Festival taking place in Durban on the 15th of June. The official launch is said to be slated for some time in July. F-Type is cast primarily against the Porsche 911, although it comes with a soft-top roof and no hard top yet.

Africa says it’s quite chuffed by the
sales figures of its 208 subcompact
hatchback. According to figures released by Peugeot, the little 208 chalked up sales of 201 units for the month of May, which is up 13.6% on April and a whopping 46.7%
on March 2013.

2013 FORD ODYSSEY AFRICA FINALISTS REVEALED

the Top 10 finalists for the Ford Ranger Odyssey Africa 2013. The individuals
come from a wide range of backgrounds, and have been selected based on their
performance at the Ranger Odyssey Boot Camp, which was held this past weekend

NEW MERCEDES-BENZ A-CLASS RECALLED OVER AIRBAG ISSUE

Mercedes-Benz has
had its first scare with the new A-Class
after it emerged that there was a possible
flaw in the cover of the front passenger airbag. As a result of this discovery, the German premium maker has
decided to recall about 6 000 units of the A-Class in order to fix this
problem.

Sixteen-year-old Kelvin van der Linde of Dainfern in
Johannesburg dominated the second and third rounds of the international
Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup one-make series in Austria on Saturday and Sunday
with back-to-back victories around the 4.3-kilometre Red Bull Ring in
Spielberg.

GEMMELL AND SWAN TAKE SECOND PLACE AT TOYOTA GAUTENG DEALER RALLY

Johnny Gemmell and Carolyn Swan (Castrol Team Toyota Yaris)
finished a strong second in the Toyota Gauteng Dealer Rally which ended near
Bapsfontein east of Johannesburg this afternoon. They completed the two-day,
10-stage third round of the South African Rally Championship in their
four-wheel drive class S2000 Yaris 45 seconds behind the winning pairing of Jan
Habig and Robert Paisley (Ford Fiesta).
CRONJE AND HOUGHTON KEEP TITLE LEAD

Reigning national rally champions Mark Cronje and Robin
Houghton in the Ford Dealer Team Fiesta S2000 have come away from the Toyota
Dealer Rally which ended in Bapsfontein this afternoon with a useful haul of
points and a brace of stage victories, making up for an opening day which
scuppered their chances of taking a third win on the trot. Importantly though,
they remain the championship leaders, but with multiple champion Jannie Habig
and Robert Paisley in a similar Ford Fiesta breathing down their neck: a single
point separates the two crews after three rounds of the championship.
SWEET BABY FORD ECOSPORT FOR MZANSI

Ford South Africa confirmed that the new EcoSport baby SUV/ crossover will be sold in Mzansi before the end of the year. The EcoSport is a small high-rider targeting the likes of Nissan Juke and to a much lesser extent, the MINI Countryman.
