CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER: COMING TO MZANSI IN 2012

Chevrolet South Africa has confirmed it will import the all-new TrailBlazer SUV, a nameplate not previously officially available within these shores. Bigger than the Captiva, the TrailBlazer will occupy a higher price segment, competing with the likes of Toyota Prado. Chevy says it is just as good on tar as it is on hard gravel.

Thailand will be first to sell the Brazil-developed TrailBlazer in early 2012, followed by other countries later. A new 2.8-litre turbo diesel is first in line, coupled by an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

“The growing markets of the world want flexibility. That means power and capability combined with comfort and efficiency,” said Brad Merkel, GM’s Global Vehicle Line Executive for Midsize Trucks and SUVs. “TrailBlazer does it all. You can tow anything, go anywhere, comfortably seat seven people, and do so with the fuel efficiency associated with a smaller, less capable vehicle. It’s the complete package.”
