PORSCHE CLAIMS 1200KM RANGE FROM PANAMERA DIESEL

Porsche has announced a Panamera turbo diesel as an added model to its range. The car features a 3.0-litre V6 TDI said to achieve a tank range of up to 1200km from the 80 litre fuel tank. The new engine is shared with Volkswagen Group luminaries such as the VW Touareg and Audi A8.

Engine output is 184kW made between 3800rpm and 4400rpm, with maximum torque of 550Nm available between 1750rpm and 2750rpm. An 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox with start/stop is standard and torque is sent only to the rear wheels. A sprint time of 6.8 seconds and top speed of 242km/h are envisaged. Average fuel consumption is said to be 6.5 litres per 100km, and drools to 6.3 litres per 100km with low resistance tyres.

Porsche South Africa sells the Panamera Diesel at R795 000 standard, making it the third cheapest Panamera in the country.
