HONDA SAYS: The Honda Accord has come out tops in a UK reliability survey conducted by the British Which? magazine.
The survey, which studied some 84 000 cars, found that Accord owners hardly experienced any problems. An impressive 98.5% of owners reported that their vehicle had required no attention whatsoever in the last year.
The reliability survey was based on whether vehicles had broken down, had been taken back to the dealer, or whether any niggles had been experienced during the previous 12 months.
While the Accord top-scored in the survey, three more Hondas finished in the top 10.
The new-generation Honda Jazz placed second with a score of 98.2 percent, while the previous Honda Jazz occupied sixth place with a 95.9 percent rating. The Honda Civic Hybrid was a close seventh, on 95.7 percent.
Seven of the top 10 most reliable cars in the survey were from Japanese marques.
Honda also has a proud reliability and customer satisfaction record in South Africa, where the marque regularly scores highly in the JD Power Initial Quality Survey (IQS) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI).
The Honda brand took the top spot in JD Power’s Initial Quality Survey in 2006 and the Customer Satisfaction Index survey in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, four Hondas won their categories in the JD Power CSI survey, with the Honda Jazz taking the honours in the lower small car category.
“These accolades underline the excellence of Honda products in general,” says Graham Eagle, director of sales and marketing at Honda South Africa.
“The Accord, in particular, provides a compelling executive motoring proposition – especially in a market where retail price and cost of ownership are key elements of the overall ownership experience.”
