GRAND BENTLEY MULSANNE APPEARS AT PEBBLE BEACH

Pebble Beach, California was the unveiling scene of the brand new Bentley Mulsanne. Previously referred to as the Grand Bentley, the Mulsanne takes up the flagship position for Bentley and replaces the old Arnage.

“The challenge we set our engineers,” said Bentley chairman and CEO Dr. Franz-Josef Paefgen, “was to create a new grand Bentley that would stand as the pinnacle of British luxury motoring, offering the world's most exclusive driving experience. They have responded to this challenge with real passion and the result is a luxury grand tourer that sets new standards in terms of comfort, effortless performance and hand-crafted refinement - the very qualities for which Bentley is renowned.”

No further details on the car were announced but rumours suggest that the old and trusted 6.75-litre will be repositioned and kept going. I doubt it. Actually, I hope not; it’s time for Crewe to glide into the 21st Century just like everyone else and produce modern and efficient engines.

The Europeans will get their first units of the Mulsanne in mid-2010 with the rest of the world following shortly.
