Devon, an American sports car maker, has unveiled a new supercar to compete with European rivals from Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini. The Devon GTX is scheduled for a US launch in 2010 and will be priced at about US$500 000 (R4 million).
Fitted with an 8.4-litre V10 engine worth 485kW (650hp), the GTX is a promise of plenty smoke-filled take-offs, thanks to the 6-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Running on 18, 19 or 20-inch wheels the car will be offered in standard form as well as a USD$25 000 (R202 000) track-focused package.
Not many examples will be seen on the roads because its makers plan only a yearly batch of 36.
