The new Lexus LF-LC
Concept car will be unwrapped in Detroit
next week, only a couple of weeks after the first teasers and leaks came out. Lexus brass are quite excited about it,
and frankly so are we. Who wouldn’t be? Just look at the thing.
Conceptualised as a 2+2
seater (sits two upfront and two at the back) coupe, LF-LC epitomises luxury and comfort,
according to its makers. It signals what is being described as the biggest
change in the company’s history, as it battles the German premium trio, as
well as growing Jaguar / Land Rover threat and of course Volvo.
“Our entire studio worked to develop this beautiful interpretation of Lexus originality,”
said Kevin Hunter, president of the
Lexus Calty design studio in Newport Beach, California. “The LF-LC concept embodies
our vision of what a premium sport coupe could be.”
Surfaces throughout the cabin are presented in a combination of smooth leather and
suede, with brushed metal trim and wood
accents. The lightweight,
race-inspired front seats are formed of multiple layers and repeat the
interlacing curves that define the cabin interior. The racing style steering
wheel is also a lightweight design
and contains integrated controls and
start button. Beautiful stitch details emphasize organic movement throughout
the interior.
There are no powertrain
details yet, only that the car is a hybrid,
as would be expected of any future Lexus.
