Mazda’s following
quite closely on the heels of sibling Ford by confirming it will unveil the all-new BT-50 bakkie (pickup) at JIMS 2011 next week. The big utility will
go on sale locally sometime in 2012,
and will offer two new diesel engines, according to Mazda.
“We are very excited to be unveiling the new BT-50 for the first time at the Johannesburg
International Motor Show,” says Doreen
Mashinini, Mazda Marketing Manager. “The dynamic new design combined with
increased interior space, longer wheelbase
and greater power ensures all the comfort of a passenger car, alongside the versatility of a pickup.”
It’s going to be a tough act to try and take down class leaders like Toyota Hilux, Isuzu
KB and Nissan NP300. And of course, in-house competition from the new Ranger.
