PORSCHE RELEASES 911 CARRERA 4 GTS

Porsche’s ever-growing 911 lineup has just birthed yet another derivative in the form of the Carrera 4 GTS, a 4x4 coupe and Cabriolet sports car with something a little different for the customer. Under the covers is a 3.8-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine and several other distinguishing features.

The 3.8-litre makes a useful 300kW at 7300rpm, while torque is rated at 420Nm from 4200rpm to 5600rpm. The standard gearbox is a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung or PDK unit can also be ordered by the more mature buyer. Porsche says 0 – 100km/h will be covered in 4.6 seconds by the coupe and 4.8 seconds by the soft-top Cabriolet.

Visual differences from other 911s include 19-inch RS Spyder wheels with special gloss-lathed rim flanges on 305/30 ZR 19 tyres, an additional reflective stripe between the taillights, black Alcantara interior trim so typical of Porsche GTS cars and a host of others.

Porsche Centre South Africa will price the 911 Carrera 4 GTS soon. Mind you the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Carrera GTS costs R1.15 million here.
