MORE EFFICIENT BLUEMOTION ENGINES FOR VW TIGUAN

BlueMotion Technology, Volkswagen’s fuel-saving systems, is now available for the Tiguan baby SUV. BlueMotion is already sold with the CC, Polo, Golf and Touareg. It includes stop/start and regenerative braking in order to help lower consumption and C02 emissions.

Engines affected are the 1.4 TSI with 90kW, the 1.4 TSI with 110kW and the 2.0 TDI making 81kW. All are 4x2 models pulling through their front wheels. Average fuel consumption is said to be 6.5 litres per 100km for the 90kW, 6.7 litres per 100km for the 110kW and 5.3 litres per 100km from the TDI.

We’ve always liked the Tiguan but unfortunately it seems VW SA allocated it the smallest marketing budget of its lineup. While people like Hyundai and Kia are pushing out floods of ix35s and Sportages, VW seems quite happy with one or two Tiguan sales every month.
