Volkswagen is getting ready to really take the fight to Toyota now with the announcement that its Amarok single cab will be available for viewing at the 2011 NAMPO Harvest Day in Bothaville between 17 and 20 May.
In September 2010 VW SA launched the Amarok double cab and has since sold about 2 500 units, or an average of 357 per month. For now only these two body types will be sold in the Mzansi scenario. A foregone conclusion would be the single cab will share its powertrain with the double cab, meaning a 4-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 90kW on tap. The vehicle is expected to fulfil the role of workhorse. It will be displayed at the Johannesburg International Motor Show in October as well.

It appears America is influencing VW designs very heavily. This looks like an American 'truck' as they call it over there.
