Idries Omar may have studied and practiced with some of the best in the world in Australia, but he is still a braai-loving South African boy through and through. His 3D skills are evident here as he renders a possible BMW M car that would compete with the Audi R8.
According to Idi (that’s what he calls himself) the car is the result of him waiting impatiently for Beemer to challenge the R8. Currently the Bavarians have no such plans because they don’t feel such a car would sell in the prevailing economic climate.
Idi’s M car is of course over-the-top but then you expect that from a wild designer whose work is unchecked against corporate schlirp and directors with no vision. The man knows that his design is too outrageous to ever make it into production; BMW would tone it down so much you’d think it was designed in Korea.
The hypothetical engine fitted is one that produces over 400kW, which makes sense for the next-generation M5/ M6. Idi says it’s a modified version of the current 5.0-litre V10 but I doubt Beemer would reuse that particular motor.
What do you think, do you think BMW should give this guy and his designs a chance?
