HAMANN G55 TYPHOON LOADS 440KW

Mercedes-Benz’s Geländewagen has been around for about 30 years now. Its main purpose was to traverse the vast lands on any surface while its passengers sat in relative comfort. Merc still produces the G wagen or G-Class in few numbers since the advent of the ML and GL models.

Hamann, the tuning company, loves to play with these toys. They’ve now packed 441kW (600hp) and 782Nm into the G wagen by using their HM600 power kit. The result is called the Hamann Typhoon. They say the car will now go from 0 – 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 261km/h. Who would attempt such a feat I’m not quite sure, but to say those C 63 AMGs and BMW M3s on the road should be afraid is an understatement.

Being Hamann the story wasn’t just about the engine. Pimping is as much of interest as the nuts and bolts. Outside they put on LED lights, changed the front end, put on 6 exhaust tailpipes, launched into 24-inch wheels and installed a rear diffuser. Diffusers help keep cars stable and planted on the road.

If you look inside you might mistake the look for a 1970s porn film set (as it has been described to me). Plenty of red lining on the seat covers mixed with black leather.

I’m sure there’s a number of young rappers and rockers already on the list of Hamann’s delivery route for the Typhoon.
