GENERAL MOTORS TEAMS UP WITH THE AA

General Motors South Africa (GMSA) has joined forces with South Africa’s largest roadside assistance organisation; the Automobile Association (AA) to provide roadside assistance and related services for owners and drivers of Chevrolet, Opel and Isuzu vehicles.

The new GM Assist programme, which went into effect on July 1st, will see GMSA take advantage of the large fleet, wide coverage, and professionalism offered by the AA to give a free service to owners and drivers of all GM products which are still covered by the company’s new vehicle warranty of 5 years/ 120 000 km (whichever comes first).

Karen Bryden, Managing Director of the AA says, “The AA is proud to be associated with General Motors South Africa and the iconic brands in the General Motors stable.  This partnership on the provision of roadside assistance and other services brings together two well-known brands which represent quality and the highest ethics.  We look forward to assisting Opel, Isuzu and Chevrolet drivers and supporting the General Motors customer service ethos.”

Yusuf Patel, Customer Care and Support Manager at GMSA, says the partnership will serve both the AA and GMSA well. “The AA is a well-established, trusted and respected brand in South Africa with a large fleet of patrol and recovery vehicles. Their fleet, which includes our very own Isuzu flatbed tow trucks, is strategically positioned and able to assist 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With the AA just a phone call away, it’s like having a personal assistant always ready and waiting to assist in the unlikely event of a breakdown or unfortunate flat tyre or other roadside emergency.”

The GM Assist programme includes coverage for flat tyres, flat batteries, fuel and keys being locked inside a vehicle. The programme also assists with towing assistance, safe vehicle storage, vehicle repatriation, courtesy transport and a travel service. Trained technicians at all points of contact – be it over the phone or at the side of the road – also enhance the experience, giving affected customers extra peace of mind.

“We strongly believe that the new partnership will add enormous value to our customer experience and brands with immediate effect. Furthermore, this is an exciting journey for GMSA with many new opportunities and initiatives planned for the near future, to ensure that our customers receive industry-leading value, an outstanding customer experience, and personalised immediate support when they need it most,” concludes Patel.
