Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd.’s Jeep brand has joined forces with the Reserve Protection Agency (RPA) by sponsoring two Jeep Wrangler vehicles to assist in the fight against poaching within South Africa and in particular the current Rhino poaching scourge that is sweeping across the country.
The RPA is a Public Benefit Organisation dedicated to protect and defeat threats to global bio-diversity, social responsibility, skills development and job creation.
Through the sponsorship, Chrysler South Africa’s Jeep brand has made available a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2.8L CRD Sahara (4-Door) and a Wrangler 3.6L (petrol) Rubicon (2-Door). The cars, branded in a unique and striking colour scheme, will be utilised by the RPA for a period of one year.
Speaking at Chrysler South Africa’s new head office premises in Midrand, CEO/Managing director Trent Barcroft said: “The Jeep brand has always had strong links to the environment through its off-roading heritage and the Tread Lightly policy. We are committed to conservation and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship with the RPA and wholly support their efforts to bring, amongst other issues, poaching under control in South Africa. The Jeep Wrangler is our iconic off-road vehicle and will serve RPA exceptionally in their on-going efforts”.
