PORSCHE WANTS EVEN MORE MODELS BY 2018

Porsche 918 Spyder

If you thought Porsche was done expanding its model line-up you were wrong. The German sports-car manufacturer owned by the Volkswagen Group, plans on adding at least four new models by the year 2018, according to an interview done by Automotive News.

In addition to the upcoming 918 Spyder hybrid supercar and the Macan crossover SUV (both due out in 2013), there is also talk of a Panamera Coupe.

The Panamera will also spawn a smaller sedan currently nicknamed Pajun, short for Panamera Junior. The two-door Pajun will be reminiscent of the old 928 which featured a front-engine and will be capable of seating for four people. It will compete with the likes of BMW 5 Series, Audi’s A6 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. IN4RIDE already reported on this particular model way back in 2009. There could be drop-top Cabriolet version as well in the mix.

The new entry-level car which was planned to fall below the Cayman and Boxster has now been postponed indefinitely, apparently because it could dilute the company’s image. We think that happened in 2002 already when the Cayenne was first launched.

I stopped being interested in this brand when the Cayenne came out.
