Renault supplies
engines to several Formula One
teams, including the highly successful
Red Bull team. In order to help celebrate
this partnership, Renault has released a special edition Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB7, which is quite a mouthful. But the mouthful
can become a handful if one doesn’t look out.
That’s because it uses the same mechanicals as the Trophy Edition, which in plain language, means a 2.0-litre
turbo engine making a savoury 195kW
for the front wheels to pull, as well as 360Nm
of torque. Renault claims an average fuel average of 7.5 litres per 100km.
As for the décor, special apparel includes something called Etoilé Black for the exterior pain colour,
highlighted by a yellow front bumper spoiler and yellow side mirrors. The mandatory
chequered flag design runs over the
roof, while Red Bull logos adorn the
sides. The inside features racing
bucket seats and some yellow touches
on the steering wheel, seats and centre console. Aluminium foot pedals and a carbon
fibre-touch on the doors complete the sporty look.
It’s said the car will be made available to over 24 countries. Hopefully one of those is
South Africa.
