Renault won’t be resting on its laurels as it announces the arrival of the Mégane Renault Sport Trophy, something more angry than the normal RS Sport or Cup. We’ve driven both Sport and Cup, and they are awesome hatchbacks, the sportiest in their class. And now Renault says they aren’t enough? Wow!
You can spot the RS Trophy by any number of ways, including 19-inch gloss black wheels with red piping, a black roof, a new rear lip spoiler, LED daytime running lights and a numbered plaque. The seats can be Recaro depending on the market, with the usual RS Monitor that gives driver plenty of information on performance.
But that’s not all. the Trophy comes kitted with the same 4-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-litre engine. Except this time, instead of 184kW, it brings out a savoury 195kW of power and torque of 360Nm (up 20Nm). Claimed performance is 6 seconds for the 0 – 100km/h sprint, top velocity is 254km/h and average fuel consumption is 8.2 litres per 100km.
Only 500 units of the Mégane Renault Sport Trophy will be sold in selected European countries.
