Jaguar South Africa
has released prices for the fuming XKR-S
Convertible. The super drop-top
is priced at R1 807 200, and
can be ordered from your nearest Jaguar dealership. XKR-S Convertible is based
on the normal XKR Convertible, which in turn is based on the XKR Coupe, but
adds a bag of African bird’s eye chilli
its mix. While it uses the same 5.0-litre
supercharged V8 engine, power and torque have gone up to match the price.
The everyday XKR delivers “only” 375kW and 625Nm of
torque. XKR-S Convertible, like its Coupe sibling, puffs out 405kW and 680Nm. Jaguar claims a 0 – 100km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds, but from our experience,
it will probably go faster.
So which cars is the new XKR-S Convertible up against? Well,
its most direct rival is the upcoming BMW M6 Convertible, whose power figure is 412kW.
Next is probably the Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet with 390kW. The new Mercedes-Benz SL 63
AMG (395kW) could also be a
rival, although it only has two seats. Same could be said for the ever-fresh Audi R8 V10 Spyder (386kW). One might even
mention an Aston Martin, but which one?
