SA-BUILT RENAULT SANDERO STEPWAY SHOWN

The Sandero Stepway is poised to take up the mantle of flagship model of Renault South Africa’s Sandero line-up and further enhance its robust range.

As the only cross-over model in the AB entry level segment, Stepway’s offering to consumers is innovative and unique and Renault is confident that the newcomer will prove a serious contender in this highly contested passenger car segment. As with the rest of the Sandero range,
Stepway boasts best-in-class interior space and value for money.  A full 20mm higher than current Sandero models, a host of styling cues sets it apart from its peers. These include satin and chrome trim, front fog lights and black bushplate headlamps - all of which combine to give Sandero Stepway an SUV-look that simply shouts stylish ruggedness.

Like its Renault Sandero siblings, Stepway will be manufactured at Alliance partner Nissan South Africa’s Rosslyn production plant. With an additional R6-million already invested in extra tooling on the chassis line as well as upgrades in the body shop and trim departments, production of the new model kicks off later this year.

Formed in 1999, the Renault-Nissan Alliance is the most successful partnership in the global automobile industry. Following its July 2007 announcement of a R1-billion investment in the Rosslyn plant, production of Sandero - the first Renault to be made in South Africa in over three decades - was in full swing by January 2009.

A big-size car with a small-size price tag, within just 17 months, Sandero has become a top seller and Renault is confident that its introduction of Stepway will further boost its growth in South Africa.

The locally manufactured Sandero Stepway is due to go on sale in South Africa in November 2010.
