Americans are both lucky and unlucky when it comes to the
motor industry. By default they get
cars like the Corvette ZR1 and Chevy Camaro, while at the same time
miss out on really cool turbo diesel engines. This time they are on the lucky
side as they pounce on the new Hyundai
Genesis 2.0T.
The small coupe was unveiled at the 2012 North American
International Auto Show, with two engines in tow. The 3.8-litre V6 looks the part but we are more interested in the
smaller 2.0-litre petrol turbo that
hauls 202kW of power and 373Nm of torque. That’s more power than
a VW Golf R and more torque than the
previous-generation BMW M3 (E46)! The
car can also be specified with an 8-speed
automatic gearbox, a first for the segment.
In the US the Hyundai
Genesis Coupe 2.0T will cost a
minimum of US$24 250 (R186 300).
Hyundai South Africa is looking into bringing the car over but has not
confirmed anything yet. We think a price of around R300 000 would be realistic here.

I wish I was in the U.S right now
A smoking Hyundai? That's new.
I saw it when I was over in the States and got to sit in it. Hope it does come to SA. I am still driving my 7 yr old Tiburon in hopes that the Genesis will come here.
