HYUNDAI VELOSTER TURBO BREAKS THROUGH

Hyundai’s Veloster is headed to Mzansi sometime this year. The little coupe is supposedly a direct competitor to the Volkswagen Scirocco. Launched in the United States in 2011, the car was equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre GDI making 103kW and 167Nm of torque.

A more powerful turbocharged version was today revealed at the 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The new 1.6-litre GDI Turbo officially puts out 155kW and 265Nm of torque, but could be ever so slightly restricted if it comes to SA, just like it has been for the US market. Where it is sold it comes either with a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox, driving the front wheels.
