Just over 1100
workers at Volkswagen Germany have
had their beloved Blackerrys
blacklisted. Not in the way you might think. Apparently these workers, mostly
management, have been complaining
about being overworked even to the point
they cannot see a clear line between weekday and weekend. According to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung daily
newspaper, a solution has been found.
VW has responded
by stopping its servers from sending them work-related emails 30 minutes after their fixed work
times, and resends them an hour before they begin work the next day or on
Monday in the case of weekends. However,
nothing was said about phone calls, SMSs/
texts, Tweets and Facebook messages, but it’s thought
these are easily screenable since the worker can choose not to access them.
