BMW COULD PRODUCE 280KW DIESEL 5 SERIES

BMW is apparently going full steam ahead with a higher-performance diesel engine. Word is, there was a dealer presentation in the Netherlands during which Bavaria revealed some specifications on the car. Based on a 5 Series, the car could be considered the M5 of the diesel world.

These rumoured specs claim the car uses a 3-litre tri-turbo 6 cylinder engine in order to push out around 280kW of power, with a matching torque of over 700Nm. For such a small-sized engine these figures are quite astounding. Fuel consumption for such a motor will be quite a talking point; anyone can make a powerful diesel, but to produce a high-performance diesel with a frugal appetite is something much more challenging.
