FRANKFURT 2011: VOLVO CONCEPT YOU UNVEILED

Volvo unveiled the You Concept car at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The You follows the unveiling of the Concept Universe which happened at the Auto Shanghai earlier and both cars signal Volvo’s intention of playing with the big German boys in the large premium segment of A8s, 7 Series and S-Classes.

Said Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby: “Concept You gives a good indication of what you can expect from our next large sedan. The blend of contemporary Scandinavian design, exquisite craftsmanship and intuitive technology will appeal to luxury car buyers all over the world.”

Quite an odd looking vehicle from first glance, especially the front end which looks unfinished. Hence the word “concept” we guess. Nevertheless, this appears to be Volvo’s next face, just as we saw with the Universe.

In terms of the overall design package we can deduce that cars like the Audi A7 and Mercedes-Benz CLS are its main future rivals, although sizewise it punches above that. Interestingly the doors are suicide style, meaning they open in opposite directions.

Which is uglier, this or the Panamera?

the front end is really boring but it's a nice Concept nonetheless
