JAGUAR PLANNING EVEN HOTTER XFR AND XKR CONVERTIBLE?

Jaguar is reportedly preparing even hotter versions of its XFR and XKR Convertible models. A blazing XKR-S was unveiled in February this year with its 405kW engine. Naturally the XF should benefit, and Auto Express reports that indeed it does.

The same 5.0-litre supercharged V8 will be on duty with XFR and XKR Convertible, actuated by the same 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddles behind the steering wheel. Drive is through the rear wheels. Some suspension and styling changes can also be expected.

We tested the 375kW XFR at Gauteng’s high altitude of around 1500m, and were stupefied with its 4.6 second sprint between 0 and 100km/h. We therefore expect an XFR-S to do notably less, maybe even 4.3 seconds. That would really shake up the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG and BMW M5, wouldn’t it?
