NEW AUDI A1 BOSS IN DA HOUSE

The Audi A1 has quickly become an Audi South Africa Top 3 seller, pushing on average about 330 units per month over the past three months. Now a new, more powerful engine model has been added to the mix. The 1.4T FSI S line S tronic is a mouthful and hopefully will be a nice handful to drive as well.

Sporting a 1.4-litre turbocharged and supercharged engine (twin charged) produces a very competent 136kW and peak torque 250Nm, all sent to the front wheels via a standard 7-speed S tronic (double-clutch automatic) gearbox. A 0 – 100km/h sprint time of 6.9 seconds is claimed, with top end coming in at 227km/h. They say it will sip just 5.9 litres of unleaded over 100km at a time, giving an average C02 rating of 139g/km.

Some differences with the lesser cars include the front grille, 17-inch wheels, and others. Notice the missing S1 badges, because this is NOT an Audi S1. The S1 is still being developed and will make, hopefully, about 160kW and be driven by an AWD quattro system.

And Cell C has been using the S1 in their retail ads, as give away.

@Oxo: That is a normal A1 1.4T FSI S line S tronic promised by Cell C, not the S1.
