The Peugeot brand has emerged from the 2010 Synovate Quality Awards survey into the initial vehicle ownership experience with its reputation as a top quality brand enhanced.
In the last three SynovatePP100 reports, which measures the number of problems experienced in the first 90 days with a new vehicle, Peugeot owners have reported fewer and fewer problems with their vehicles. The 2010 Synovate survey shows that on average, all Peugeot passenger vehicles surveyed (including 107, 207 and 308) experienced 63 problems per 100 vehicles – or put another way, just over half a problem per vehicle.

This made Peugeot the joint winner along with Toyota of the Volume Passenger Car category, with no statistical difference in the performance of the two brands. In 2009 Peugeot was second in the category, the latest report proving that Peugeot continues to move in the right direction.
“This result is particularly heartening, as it gives impetus to our efforts to enhance the Peugeot ownership on all levels,” says Peugeot South Africa’s Managing Director, Jean Francois Bacos. “At the beginning of the year we talked about how improved customer satisfaction would be a key part of our strategy in 2010 and ending the year with this kind of success it is an endorsement of that approach.”
The latest survey shows that the overall quality of Peugeot vehicles sold in South Africa continues to improve, with a drop from 127 problems per 100 vehicles in 2007 to 81 problems per 100 vehicles in 2008 and finally a figure of 63 in 2009, therefore significantly better than the market average.
“It is hard to argue with the results obtained by Synovate, and it shows that we’re doing something right! If you want a quality car with loads of features, a high level of safety, and a design which is the epitome of chic, then there really is no reason to look any further than a Peugeot,” concluded Bacos.
