Nissan South Africa has not officially launched the new 370 Z Coupe yet but I’ve seen a coupe of examples running around town recently. But this is the first time I’ve had a chance to snap one of them. Subject was parked outside a popular eating/ drinking/ chilling spot in Woodmead, North of Johannesburg at around 08:30 this morning. Luckily I had my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic (with 3.2MP Carl Zeiss lens) in hand and was able to quickly do a 360 on the 370. The car guard wasn’t too concerned though. I suppose it I’d gotten closer to take interior shots he might have objected.
The red sports car was already registered with GP (Gauteng Province) number plates which means it was bought at least a few weeks ago. Incidentally there is a Nissan dealership right opposite this place so it’s possible the car belongs to the dealer principal or some other Nissan VIP.
So clearly the 370 Z will be launched in South Africa quite soon. Powered by a new 3.7-litre V6 engine the car, which replaces the brilliant 350 Z, produces 244kW and 366Nm of torque. Fitted as standard is a 6-speed manual gearbox while a 7-speed automatic is available in markets like the US.
Expect prices to go over R500 000 for each car. Like the 350 Z it will be followed later by the soft-top Roadster version.
