FIAT LINEA WINS INDIA CAR OF THE YEAR

The Fiat Linea which we saw at the Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) in October 2008 has won India’s Car of the Year Award. The Award is presented by the Indian edition of Autocar magazine. At the same time another Fiat Group car the 500 won Import of the Year from Overdrive magazine.

Linea is assembled in Brazil and India. It’s a four-door sedan aimed at sedan versions of such cars as the Ford Focus and Renault Megane. It features five engine variations that include a 1.4-litre TJet with 88kW and a 113kW version of the same engine.

Fiat says if all goes well (meaning no new economic shocks), the Linea will be launched in South Africa in the second half of 2009.
