Mercedes-Benz South
Africa (MBSA) confirmed in February that the next-generation GL-Class will be sold here in 2013. Now we have
pictures of the car in its full glory! It will be officially unveiled at the 2013 New York International Auto Show this
week. Judging from these, Merc has kept a real close family design language
with the new ML-Class which is due
in Mzansi in a few months’ time.
As the flagship Mercedes-Benz
SUV in terms of the everyday customer, the car is quite big and luxurious. It features lots of sharp detailing, a very strong front
grille with matching LED lights,
brushed aluminium and a boxy rear
end. Interior trims are of high class
persuasion, especially when you look at the leather seats.
The engine range will be very similar to the ML’s and other big Benzes, which will include the GL 500 with a 320kW 4.7-litre twin turbo V8.
All the details will be made public within the next few days as the NYIAS opens for media.
