Mercedes-Benz F800 Concept |
The baby Mercedes-Benz CLS will be called the CLA and
it’s to be built in Kecskemet, Hungary.
This is according to Automotive News
Europe. The publication says Mercedes-Benz owner Daimler AG invested €800
million (R8.2 billion) building the
plant, which also manufacturers the new
B-Class.
The CLA, previously referred to as the CLC, takes the same type of styling as the bigger CLS, but is
roughly the size of a C-Class. So it’s
really a competitor to the Audi A5 Sportback and the upcoming 2013 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo (GT). Therefore we can expect the same engines to be
offered, such as the 1.8-litre
bi-turbo with 150kW and possibly (I’d
say probably) a CLA 63 AMG with the
next-generation turbo engine.
