GENEVA 2012: LAND ROVER EVOQUE CONVERTIBLE CONCEPT

The 2012 Geneva International Motor Show is shaping up to be a bit of a Pandora’s box as far as what to expect from automakers. Just check out this concept car from Land Rover, an entire Range Rover Evoque Convertible!

“The Evoque Convertible Concept is a new twist to the Evoque story and explores the potential to further extend the nameplate's appeal by giving existing customers more choice, whilst at the same time reaching out to a completely new customer base,” said John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director in a statement.

While some may wonder WTF Land Rover is thinking, we see absolutely nothing wrong with this pretty little rendition. Remember that old school 4x4s like the Jeep Wrangler and Landy’s own Defender had / have removable roof options. This is just a modern expression of that kind of freedom. A convertible SUV is really quite a cool thing to have as far as we are concerned.

Of course should it go into production, engines will be shared with existing Evoques, including the 2.0-litre turbo with 177kW.
