Nissan’s tendency to keep feeding the GT-R more power sure is addictive. Actually, the automaker is now acting like an aftermarket tuner whose thirst for go goes as deep as a Star Trek black hole. Where it will all end is currently unknown, but rest assured that this is not the end. Not by a longshot. Sorry if you’ve just shelled out a million bucks on the 390kW version…
Nevertheless, here it is, an even more powerful Gujira. So the 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 engine remains the same. At least in size. But power, which went from 356kW originally, to 390kW recently, is up again at 405kW. Peak torque is also erect at 632Nm from 3200rpm to 5800rpm, making the new GT-R a panther amongst church kittens. Nissan declined to offer performance figures but we can hazard a guess that the 3 second 0 – 100km/h sprint has been breached. Yet it is claimed to average 11.8 litres per 100km. From what we hear, since we’ve never been granted a GT-R for test, you’d be lucky to achieve less than 14.9 from the “old” car. The twin clutch gearbox has been sharped for even better response.
Equipment included lists optional ceramic brakes, a more rigid body, a rear view reverse camera, and an upgraded Bose sound system among others.
