General Motors has apparently refused to comment on speculation that it is considering selling its Opel division. Two years ago a sinking GM said Opel would go up for sale, along with its HUMMER, SAAB and other brands. Later it backtracked and kept Opel within its own ranks.
But these reports, emanating from Germany, have been dismissed as pure speculation. Of course companies hardly ever announce anything like this until they are ready to sell. So for now this is just a rumour. The company even sent out an internal e-mail urging workers not to believe these new reports. On the other hand, what was that about smoke and fire?

Opel hasn't been the same for many years now. Maybe it is time for a change of master.
