Alfa Romeo of South Africa will soon be launching the all-new Giulietta to the Mzansi market. Giulietta is said to be the most complete Alfa ever built and harks back to Alfas of old (but without the annoying “quirks”). As a teaser for the public the car will be on display at the Melrose Arch Piazza from the 18th to the 21st of November. You can hop on over there, take a closer look at the car that’s aimed directly at the BMW 1 Series hatch, Audi A3 and VW Golf 6.
Giulietta has two engines for now. One is the 1.4-litre Multiair turbo which produces 125kW. This is very strong for an engine of its size, even with the added turbo as a power pusher. I stand corrected but I think it’s the most powerful of the turbocharged 1.4 engines in the market today. The other model is a 1.8-litre, also Multiair turbo. The latter kicks out and even more impressive 170kW, a figure you often find in 3.0-litre 6-cylinder cars. We hope there’s a GTA performance model kicking out around 210kW, but Alfa’s said nothing about that yet.
I’m told interested buyers can already order their Giulietta from their nearest Alfa dealer, with deliveries set to start at the beginning of 2011.
