JAGUAR TO TAKE ON 3 SERIES/ C-CLASS/ A4. AGAIN.

According to a report filed by Autocar, emanating from the German publication Automobilwoche, Jaguar is preparing to replace the small X-Type with a new car. You’ll remember the X-Type was built to take on primarily the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Good car as it was, it failed in its mission.

The new car should be called the XE and is expected to fair much better, thanks to the grand success of the XF. In addition, Jaguar owners Tata Motors are interested in expanding the pussy’s portfolio even further by developing a smaller roadster to take on the likes of Audi TT, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster. They’ve done an exceptional job with the XK so there’s no reason to make a mess of it this time.

Of course the new XF is also under development. I can’t say if Jaguar is going to introduce a facelift of its new icon but the all-new model is due around 2014.
