TOYOTA SAYS: Toyota South Africa has enhanced the popular RAV4 model line-up with the introduction of a new GX-grade derivative with an automatic gearbox.
The new RAV4 2.0 GX Auto will offer a four-speed automatic gearbox, mated to the well known 112 kW two litre petrol engine that is available on the petrol models in the range. To date the only automatic version in the range was the higher spec RAV4 2.0 VX Auto.

The smooth automatic gearbox in a RAV4 with GX specification will satisfy a growing need for self-shifting vehicles in the sport utility market, while offering the option at a lower price than was available to date. Key to the introduction is the fact that the gearbox and engine combination has already proven itself, and proven popular, in the range with the availability of the model in VX specification.
In the RAV4 2.0 GX Auto the four speed gearbox is matched to a lively 16 valve 2.0 litre engine with intelligent variable valve timing (VVT-i) that delivers 112kW at 6000 rpm and torque of 194Nm at 4000 rpm. The RAV4 2.0 GX Auto, as with all models in the range, delivers its power to all four wheels and the vehicle rides on McPherson struts in front and trailing type double wishbone suspension at the back.
Externally the RAV4 2.0 GX Auto benefits from the 2009 upgrade of the entire RAV4-range. Styling highlights include full colour coding, including door handles and side mirrors, a plush integrated front sports grille and roof rails. At the back a roof spoiler with integrated stop lamp and rear light clusters using LED-lights round off the design. This model is shod with 17-inch alloy wheels on 225/65 profile tyres.
In the plush cabin the RAV4 2.0 GX Auto offers no shortage of creature comforts. Even in GX-spec the RAV4 offers power steering, a multi-function display and CD-based sound system, electric windows and an air conditioner with pollen filtering. The safety of occupants is well taken care of by the multi-terrain ABS-system with EBD, no less than 7 airbags, anti-theft system with double-locking and off course the sure footedness of the four wheel drive system.
The RAV4 2.0 GX Auto, as every model in this range, is sold with a ToyotaCare 5 year / 90 000 km service plan. Service intervals is 15 000 km.
The RAV4 2.0 GX Auto retails for R309 800.
