CADILLAC SRX SHOWN AHEAD OF DETROIT

The new Cadillac SRX has been revealed in pictures. General Motors is hoping the new SUV will set the sales charts ablaze much more than its otherwise good predecessor which many potential buyers couldn’t place as either a wagon or an SUV.

Cadillac offers the SRX with two different engine choices, a 3.0-litre V6 as standard and a 2.8-litre V8 turbo as the option. The 3.0-litre makes a class-equaling 193kW, while the 2.8 delivers 224kW. These are mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SRX has a 4x4 system given as an option, that ensures power delivery is optimal at all times and handling good under all weather situations. To compliment the 4x4 system a limited slip differential is fitted so acceleration is linear.

Comfort features include a retractable satellite navigation system, MP3 player hard disc drive, swiveling headlights and Bluetooth connectivity among others. It also retains the current car’s electrically operated rear boot mechanism.

We’ll be able to see the 2009 SRX at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show next week.
