2010 AUDI A8 WILL HANDLE BETTER

The year 2010 will witness the European launch of a new Audi A8 quattro, a top end luxury saloon competing with the likes of BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Jaguar XJ. Here we see a sketch of roughly what the car will look like upon completion. According to the report, Audi will present its new styling language with the A8.

Audi is said to be working hard on improving the car’s suspension and overall handling prowess where BMW has traditionally been tops. To this end they will install a rear-wheel biased quattro 4x4 system similar to that found in the RS4.

The usual engine range can be expected, including petrol and turbo diesels, and a possible hybrid. A performance S8 with a petrol V10 already exists in the current lineup. Merc has the S63 and S65 AMGs, if BMW does well to sell the upcoming M7 and Jaguar its 2011 XJ R then we might see an RS8 high performance Audi sedan. I don’t see that one running on petrol though; Audi would do well to exploit its Le Mans diesel V12 and use it for its flagship road car.

An improved MMI infotainment system, 8-speed automatic gearbox and other improvements are being worked on.
