On Saturday 16 July 2011 South Africa will witness the largest annual gathering of Ferraris when approximately 150 of the sleek sports cars scream onto the Kyalami Race Track in Midrand.
The event will be hosted by the Southern Equitorial Ferrari Automobili Club (SEFAC) which was created in 1967 with the blessing of Commendatore Enzo Ferrari, making it the oldest Ferrari owners’ club in the world.
Most of the Club’s 200-plus Gauteng members will be present; not just to show their spectacular Maranello masterpieces, but to test their performance on our country’s most storied racetrack! Cars on track are set to include the fire-breathing F40, the super-exclusive 458 Italia, F430 Scuderia 16M and the super California as well as classics such as the Dino, the 550 Barchetta, the 365GTB/4 Daytona.
Pirelli Tyre will be present to not only showcase their products performance on the track but to offer guests a ride around the track in a classic Ferrari 308. The vehicle was made famous in the 80’s by the American crime drama television series, Magnum, P.I. starring Tom Selleck as private investigator Thomas Magnum.
Pirelli is not only the official tyre supplier for the FIA Formula One Championship for a three-year period starting from 2011 to 2013) but is also currently exclusively supplies some of the most important World Championships for both cars and bikes, such as the GP3 series, the World Rally Championship, the Rolex Sports Car Series in North America, the World Superbike Championship, and the Motocross World Championship. Visit the Pirelli pit for a view of Pirelli’s motor involvement.
Ster-kinekor will be present at the Pirelli pit to offer you a simulated adrenaline experience through two of their latest racing games Gran Turismo 5 and SBK 2011.
In Gran Turismo 5, you can tackle the world’s most famous racetracks, rendered in high definition that is as vivid as the real thing, and get behind the wheels of some of the most legendary cars in motor racing from past to cutting-edge present.
With SBK 2011 having been released in May 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox360 and PC Ster-kinekor will be there to give you a superbike racing experience. SBK 2011 features a brand new artistic direction; an up-to-date driving model to meet the gamer’s expectations as well as a more appealing presentation and side effects, due to an overall enhancement of the whole visual impact (menus, environments, 3D objects, lighting effects and much, much more).
The Ferrari rev counters will be in the red from 9am with proceedings ending around 4pm. Food and beverages will be on sale throughout the day.
The general public will be able to witness these dream cars on track and capture images, both photographic and mental, that are likely to be treasured for years to come. Entrance is free.
