FORD RANGER SUPER CAB IS NOW AUTOMATIC

Ford has further expanded its Ford Ranger line-up with the introduction of an automatic transmission to the 3.0 Super Cab XLT 4x2. The 3.0-litre turbo diesel model produces 115kW at 3 200rpm and has a torque peak of 380Nm at 1 800rpm.

“The Ford Ranger line-up is very comprehensive and we are pleased
to now be able to offer an Automatic derivative in the Super Cab line-up giving customers an even wider spectrum of choice,” says Ben Pillay, Ford Marketing Manager.

The Ranger Super Cab features a unique four-door system providing convenient access to the cabin by featuring two forward-hinged doors and two rear-hinged access panels. The Super Cab provides unobstructed access to the spacious interior for ease of entry and cargo loading and side-impact safety structure that replaces the centre pillar of a traditional Double Cab. There will now be four models to choose from in the Super Cab line-up.

The electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission has closely spaced ratios that keep the engine in its power band to produce better acceleration under full throttle. Its wide overall ratio is said to provide a combination of impressive off-the-line performance and efficient highway fuel economy.

The Ranger 3.0-litre's power and performance are achieved by the fuel being injected directly into the combustion chamber multiple times per cycle under extremely high pressure (1600 bar) from a common-rail pump. The technology ensures the best possible mixture of fuel and air in the cylinders, resulting in efficient combustion for high torque and excellent fuel economy while also reducing engine noise and vibration.

Combined with a variable geometry turbocharger that reduces turbo lag, the system increases power and torque across the driving range, ideal for powerful acceleration, carting heavy loads and negotiating treacherous off-road conditions.

The Ranger has become known for its true off road capabilities, its 1200 kg towing capabilities and its payload, which is in excess of one ton. Whether at work or at play the Ranger is perfectly equipped for the task.

The Ford Ranger comes with a 5 year / 90 000km Service Plan and a comprehensive 4 year/120 000km warranty with service intervals of 10 000kms. Customers will also benefit from  3 years of Roadside Assistance and a 5 year corrosion warranty as part of the Ford Ranger package. The customer has the peace of mind to know that this vehicle is reliable with a low cost of ownership.
