Volkswagen unveiled the Concept Blue Sports at the North American International Auto Show. The Blue Sports concept leads us to think that VW’s Scirocco will soon have a drop-top sister. VW spokespeople even said that the company doesn’t show concepts it doesn’t plan to eventually build.
The Blue Sports concept has a lightweight construction body, a 2.0-litre TDI engine with a sweet 134kW and hefty 350Nm in torque. It’s mated to a 6-speed DSG ‘box and runs on massive 19-inch wheels. Most of all, the car is said to be able to return a 4.3-litre/100km average fuel consumption figure.
The car features VW's new face which made its debut in the Scirocco.
When it goes into production it will compete with the Mazda MX-5.
