Ford South Africa confirmed that the new EcoSport baby SUV/ crossover will be sold in Mzansi before the end of the year. The EcoSport is a small high-rider targeting the likes of Nissan Juke and to a much lesser extent, the MINI Countryman.
South Africa will be one of 62 global markets where the EcoSport will be sold. These include
parts of Europe, India, Brazil and
some other Asian territories where such cars are increasingly important. It is
powered by a choice of three engines, including the 92kW 1.0-litre EcoBoost,
a 1.5-litre normally aspirated unit with 81kW
and a turbo diesel making 66kW.
We aren’t sure yet as to which of these will be sold here,
but the EcoBoost and diesel seem to
be the most likely and quite part for the course, although neither can match the
Juke’s top DIG-T Tekna at 140kW.
