Jaguar will introduce the new F-Type to the South African public through the 2013 Top Gear Festival taking place in Durban on the 15th of June. The official launch is said to be slated for some time in July. F-Type is cast primarily against the Porsche 911, although it comes with a soft-top roof and no hard top yet.
The infamous Stig
will of course be present at the show to be held at the Moses Mabhida FIFA World Cup Stadium. He will show off the car’s dynamics, which comes mainly from
lightweight aluminium construction architecture, balanced weight distribution
and a rigid suspension.
Three models will be sold at launch. The baby is the F-Type
powered by a supercharged 3.0-litre V6
with either 250kW or 280kW. The former is called plain F-Type,
while the latter is the F-Type S. Lastly there’s the F-Type V8 S with its
5.0-litre engine, putting out 364kW
and 625Nm of torque. It’s claimed to
go from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds,
and can reach 300km/h.
